Advanced Simulation of Manufacturing Processes Using Finite Element Methods
Professor Jeongho Kim,
Director, Connecticut Manufacturing Simulation Center and Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Connecticut
Prof. Jeongho Kim received a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2003. He is a faculty member at both the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Kim is the director of the Connecticut Manufacturing Simulation Center. His area of expertise is in finite element methods, physically-based manufacturing simulation, computational fracture mechanics, and composite damage modelling. Dr Kim was a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award in 2006. Dr. Kim has led various research programs working with federal and state agencies and industry partners, including the National Institutes of Health, the Economic Development Administration, the Connecticut Innovations, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Pratt & Whitney, the National Science Foundation, the Department of Homeland Security, the Air Force Research Laboratory, and the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
Dr. Kim serves as an associate editor of Finite Element in Analysis and Design. He hosted the 16th International Symposium on Functionally Graded Materials in Hartford, Connecticut, August 7-10, 2022.
